AEW has come a long way since its humble beginnings back in 2019 and Tony Khan has made it clear that he is very confident AEW will become a very profitable and successful company.

AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery’s exclusive rights window has closed, and fans are wondering whether the two sides have been able to agree upon deal to that end. That’s why Tony Khan recently made his way to Paris in order to further negotiate with Warner Bros. Discovery. The AEW President would then note that the future of AEW is very bright after his meeting with Warner Bros Discovery.

While speaking in an interview with Case the Producer on Q101’s Brian & Kenzie Morning Show, Khan talked about AEW’s growth from a two-hour show to three weekly programs and praised their ongoing work with Warner Brothers Discovery. He emphasized that this period is crucial for AEW, with the upcoming media rights deal being a key moment in the company’s history. Khan highlighted the strong relationship with Warner Brothers Discovery, noting that under David Zaslav’s leadership, their connection and opportunities have improved.

“Right now is the most important time ever in AEW. We’re on the verge of the most important deal we’ll ever make, this upcoming media rights, and it’s been great working with Warner Brothers Discovery on the future. For all these years, we’ve had so much great experience with Warner Brothers Discovery, and now, under the leadership of David Zaslav, the company, for us, the connection, the things we’ve been able to do, I think it’s getting stronger and stronger.”

Khan also stated that AEW will become a very profitable and successful company after securing the media rights deal, citing strong pay-per-view numbers as evidence of the company’s growth. He mentioned that AEW has achieved impressive pay-per-view records and compared their performance favorably to the later years of WCW. Khan expressed confidence that AEW is poised for continued success and profitability, with 2024 already being a standout year for the company.

“I think now, over five years, it’s really been building to this point where AEW’s going to jump into the media rights and be a very profitable, successful company that has lived up to every expectation we ever could have had because we’ve done so many amazing things in this years. We’ve had all these amazing pay-per-view records.

We’ve really come in and we’ve done pay-per-view numbers, whether adjusted or straight-up, head-to-head, very strong compared to the last few years of WCW, and I think that’s really a success story. I think pay-per-views are really fun, but it’s a really interesting business point that our business on pay-per-view has continued to get stronger. This year’s been great for us, we’ve had some huge events, including Revolution, which was one of our biggest pay-per-views ever.”

Since AEW’s launch, its partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery has played a key role in the promotion’s development. As negotiations for a new deal progress, it remains uncertain whether AEW will truly become a very profitable company in the future.
