Giulia’s unexpected appearance at NXT Stand & Deliver was a major moment in her wrestling journey. Having recently recovered from a wrist injury, she is set to join WWE later this year. Giulia has now opened up about her decision to sign with WWE, explaining the motivations and aspirations that influenced her choice.
During the latest Marigold event at Korakuen Hall, Giulia made a major announcement about her wrestling career. She disclosed that August 19th will be her final match in Japan. After careful consideration, Giulia has chosen to explore new opportunities in professional wrestling.
She also mentioned that her upcoming five matches in Japan will be her last, marking the countdown to her departure from the Japanese wrestling scene. Following this, fans can anticipate her full-time move to NXT.
While speaking to Shueisha, Giulia explained her decision to sign with WWE despite initially having no interest in joining WWE. Giulia noted that wrestlers feel a strong desire to increase the visibility of women’s professional wrestling. However, when it comes to specific strategies for achieving this, few have clear answers. The challenge lies in addressing major organizational issues that go beyond individual influence.
Giulia recognizes that her current role might seem minimal in this context and that her current statements may not carry much weight. To truly effect change, she understands she needs to build a significant presence. Expanding her reach internationally is a step toward that goal.
Giulia is enthusiastic about the prospect of facing new opponents and achieving victories. Additionally, she aims to make a positive impact on the world. Giulia stresses that she won’t return home without making tangible progress.
“All the wrestlers have the feeling that they want more people to know about women’s pro wrestling. But when you ask them how they will do that specifically, no one can answer. That’s because we also need to change major organizational issues. My presence is insignificant in that regard, and whatever Giulia says now won’t be very persuasive. If I really want to change things, I have to become a big presence first. Okay, I get it, let’s become a bigger presence overseas. Of course, I’m looking forward to facing new opponents and beating them. On top of that, when I return, I want to make the world a decent place! That’s why I can’t go home unless I get some results.”
Giulia also confirmed she had initially turned down offers to join WWE in the past. We have also reported that Giulia is also expected to make alterations to her in-ring style once she makes her WWE transition. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Giulia will be booked like a star once she makes the full transition to WWE.
