WWE’s 2024 SummerSlam event was a wild night at Cleveland Browns Stadium. The company presented seven high-quality matches for fans, and each one included significant storyline progression. There were also a few explicit words along the way.

Pat McAfee openly called Dominik Mysterio a “piece of sh*t” when he turned on Rhea Ripley, which caught the attention of many, especially since Michael Cole gave him the green light to use the explicit word. That wasn’t the only vulgarity fans heard during the broadcast on August 3.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that there were virtually no comments backstage about the amount of strong language used on the show. When we followed up, we were just told things are looser in some regards for that.

WWE is moving to Netflix in 2025, and although Michael Cole won’t be part of the show, they will still have an uncensored format. With Endeavor in control, they are much looser with censors, and the UFC’s often f-bomb-filled post-fight promos are proof of that.

We will keep a close eye on WWE and how it is changing. Many things that used to be prohibited in Vince McMahon’s era, like Superstars taking outside acting gigs, are starting to fall by the wayside. It’s hard to argue that isn’t a positive change for the entire company.
