AEW has their eye on many prospects from around the world, and they have opened their doors to several of them for short-term deals, or whenever they could get them in the country. Now, it appears that Mina Shirakawa may be in Tony Khan’s booking vicinity again very soon.
At the August 4th STARDOM event, Mina Shirakawa announced that she would not be competing in the 5 STAR Grand Prix. This was a big surprise for the standout STARDOM talent. Instead, she will be spending her summer in America, “absorbing and experiencing many things.”
The Empress Nexus Venus, which consists of Maika, Xena, and Mina, lost the Artist of STARDOM Championships to Cosmic Angels, which includes Tam Nakano, Saori Anou, and Natsupoi, at the August 4th STARDOM event.
On June 30, 2024, during the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 pay-per-view event at UBS Arena, Toni Storm successfully defended her AEW Women’s World Title against Mina Shirakawa. Since then, fans have wondered if Mina might find her way back to AEW, and how long it will take for that to happen. In an interesting note, Mercedes Mone’s Forbidden Door opponent during that event, Stephanie Vaquer, decided to take a deal with WWE instead.
We will keep a close eye on this situation with Mina Shirakawa. Someone like her could add a lot to the AEW Women’s Division, but her services may also be in high demand. Please keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more updates.
