WWE SummerSlam featured several high-profile matches, but the contest for the Women’s World Championship between Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley stood out for its intrigue. Dominik Mysterio played a significant role as an unpredictable X-factor, and the match concluded with Mysterio betraying Ripley. Rey Mysterio has since responded to the shocking turn of events.
The match started with Liv Morgan avoiding Rhea Ripley for a while. When Ripley tried to catch her, Morgan took the chance to hurt Ripley’s shoulder by slamming her into the turnbuckle. Even though Ripley was in pain, she continued the fight, even adjusting her shoulder against the announce table.
As the match neared the end, Morgan brought a chair into the ring, but Ripley kicked it away. When Ripley tried to use the chair, Dominik Mysterio stepped in to stop it, preventing a disqualification. Morgan then hit Ripley with an Oblivion move, but Ripley kicked out.
With the referee distracted by Dominik, Morgan used the chair to deliver another Oblivion and win the match. Afterwards, Dominik surprised everyone by kissing Liv Morgan, showing he had betrayed Ripley. Dominik and Morgan left together, leaving a devastated Ripley alone in the ring.
After Dominik Mysterio betrayed Rhea Ripley, Rey Mysterio responded to his son’s actions. On an Instagram post about Dominik Mysterio’s actions, the Hall of Famer addressed Dominik, calling him a master at betrayal. He reiterated a previous statement, emphasizing that Dominik was particularly skilled at turning his back on those who care about him the most.

Rhea Ripley was also visibly in tears after Dominik Mysterio’s shocking betrayal. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how WWE will continue to book Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley’s relationship, since things have truly changed.
