WWE SummerSlam was truly a night of memorable moments and solid matches, as fans were truly invested in the show from start to finish. It even featured a surprise appearance from Arn Anderson and now Cody Rhodes has addressed his appearance at the show.
Before his title match against Solo Sikoa at WWE SummerSlam, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes had a backstage reunion with Hall of Famer Arn Anderson. This appearance marked Anderson’s return to WWE after leaving AEW in May following the expiration of his contract.
During the WWE SummerSlam Post-Show, Rhodes discussed the significance of reuniting with Anderson. He explained that Anderson played a crucial role in his journey, especially during a chaotic period when Rhodes was in AEW and his father was not physically present.
Rhodes valued Anderson’s insights and guidance in pro wrestling, noting that Anderson’s ability to foresee developments in the industry made his presence particularly valuable. Rhodes expressed his appreciation for the moment they shared, emphasizing how much Anderson means to him and hoping for more appearances from him in the future.
“For people who follow just the general story and the road I’ve been on, Arn is a huge part of it; I had made that decision. When I was with AEW, I’d made the decision that, ‘Hey, I can’t have my dad for this stuff. He’s not here physically. I want someone who was with him.’ They didn’t have to be an ally, they could have been an adversary. He came in and he was such a piece of sanity for me during a really chaotic time. Arn is one of the smartest people you’ll meet in pro wrestling/sports entertainment. But he’s also so ahead of the curve in the sense like, ‘Hey, I see where this is going.’ Arn has always been able to be there. For me, it was just special to have a moment with him. Particularly one where he wasn’t threatening to shoot me or something of that nature. It was nice because he means a great deal to me. I hope we see more of Double-A.”
We will have to wait and see whether Arn Anderson will make more appearances in the coming weeks, as fans were simply happy to see Anderson back on WWE television after so long.
