Since stepping away from WWE following WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon has stayed out of the spotlight in the wrestling world. Speculation about his potential move to AEW gained traction after a recent meeting between McMahon and Tony Khan. In response, Booker T has openly stated that he wasn’t surprised by their meeting.

Mercedes Mone confirmed that she and Shane McMahon met while boarding their respective flights, though she did not reveal the details of their conversation. Tony Khan, the CEO of AEW, also made it known that Shane McMahon is welcome in AEW, which has fueled further speculation.

On Monday, July 29, 2024, Tony Khan and Shane McMahon had a private meeting at a private office at Arlington airport. This meeting sparked speculation about potential future collaborations between them. The discussion was centered on exploring possibilities for moving forward, and it marked their first face-to-face encounter despite Khan’s previous interest in meeting McMahon.

While speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T talked about Shane McMahon’s recent meeting with AEW President Tony Khan, including the possibility of McMahon joining AEW and other related topics. Booker T noted that nothing surprises him in the wrestling business.

The WWE Hall of Famer suggested that Tony Khan might have reached out to Shane McMahon for his expertise or advice on running the business, as part of an effort to advance AEW. However, Booker T also mentioned that he doesn’t believe Shane McMahon is seeking financial compensation for this involvement.

“Nothing surprises me in this business, it really doesn’t. Could I believe that Tony Khan reached out to Shane McMahon perhaps for some expert knowledge, expertise, perhaps a way to run the business? I could see that. It’s all about trying to move to the next level. Does Shane McMahon need a check? I don’t think so.”

WWE’s internal reaction to Tony Khan and Shane McMahon meeting was also revealed, and Shane McMahon even issued a statement on the meeting. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see whether Khan and McMahon will end up working together this year as anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling.
