The feud between Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan is set to culminate at WWE SummerSlam, where they will clash for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Ahead of the bout, Ripley has now addressed her injury status.
Earlier this year, Rhea Ripley had to vacate the WWE Women’s World Championship due to an injury and Morgan made sure to take credit for injuring her. Since then, Morgan constantly taunted Ripley until Ripley returned last month on RAW.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Rhea Ripley was asked about her current health status after she returned from her shoulder injury. Rhea Ripley stated that her shoulder is now okay and she’s confident in its recovery. She mentioned that she’s back to lifting the same weights she did before, and even surpassed her previous personal record. Recently, she achieved a new personal record in her bench press, increasing from 80 pounds for four reps to 85 pounds for five reps.
Ripley recounted the incident when her shoulder was injured. When her opponent threw her into a brick wall, she immediately felt something was wrong. Initially, she thought she had dislocated her shoulder because she felt a significant lump, which she realized was her bone. The pain was intense, and she went into shock. Despite the injury, she tried to continue fighting but was eventually knocked out after being kicked into another brick wall.
“Shoulder-wise, it’s okay. I’m confident that it’s good. I’m back to lifting the same weights I was lifting, if not more. I hit a personal record two days ago on my bench. My old personal record was 80 pounds for four reps, and the other day I did 85 pounds for five reps.
As soon as she grabbed me and threw me into that brick wall, my shoulder hit and I knew instantly something was wrong. I didn’t think I would be out for three months; I thought I had dislocated my shoulder because I immediately grabbed it and felt a massive lump, which was my bone. I definitely knew something was off, and it was excruciating. It was one of those moments where you go into shock. But I knew I had to get up and try to continue fighting. So, I got up, and then she kicked me into another brick wall, and that was it—I was done.”
We will have to wait and see whether Rhea Ripley will be able to defeat Liv Morgan and exact revenge in order to become the Women’s World Champion, as fans feel it’s time for Ripley to become the champion.
