Jey Uso has been on an absolute tear as a babyface on Monday Night RAW over the past few months but he has not been able to win key matches over the past few months, leading to Rikishi calling out WWE over his booking. In light of this, Jey Uso has finally responded to the same.
Jey Uso is now making waves as a singles competitor on WWE Raw. Although he’s delivered impressive performances, he has yet to capture a singles title. His participation in the Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match didn’t see him pick up the win, but Jey Uso continues to be a prominent and influential presence on Monday Night Raw.
While speaking on his Off The Top Rope podcast, Rikishi expressed his frustration with how Jey Uso is being booked. He questioned why the company isn’t pushing or giving more opportunities to someone he considers the most popular babyface, regardless of their family connection. Rikishi suggested that it would benefit the business to give Jey Uso a title or significant win, implying that it’s a missed opportunity.
“They’re not doing a damn thing with Yeet. My opinion’s why? Why do you not push or give the most popular babyface, in my eyes, be it my son or not, if the Yeet Master or the Yeet man is over, why? How come? What is the problem, not giving this guy some type of title, something, win something? It’d only be good for business, wouldn’t it?”
In response, Jey Uso addressed his father’s comments on The Ringer Wrestling Show. He acknowledged Rikishi’s opinions about his creative direction but advised his dad to simply enjoy the show and let him do his work. Jey also mentioned that his father’s comments are part of his character, and he gave a shoutout to his dad.
”He just said what he said about my creative. I’m like, ‘Dad. Just watch the show. Let me work. Let me go out and work, enjoy the show. Make your rap track.’ That’s pops, though. Shoutout to my dad.”
There has been considerable fan support urging WWE to push Jey Uso to the top. As a major fan favorite on Monday Night Raw, there’s growing anticipation for WWE to elevate him to singles champion status, with many hoping he could even rise to become a World Champion. Fans are eager to see when WWE will make the move to capitalize on his popularity and potential somewhere down the line.
