The Unholy Union, comprised of Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn, have been on a tear for the past couple of months after becoming the Women’s Tag Team Champions. They ended up retaining their titles on SmackDown this week after Blair Davenport interfered and now she has revealed the reason for the interference.
On the August 2nd episode of WWE SmackDown, Blair Davenport disrupted the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match, where Isla Dawn and Alba Fyre were defending their titles against Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Davenport, Dawn, and Fyre united to attack Belair and Cargill, leading to Dawn and Fyre retaining their titles.
In a SmackDown Exclusive, Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn talked about the match’s outcome. Fyre emphasized that their victory was significant regardless of the means, as they secured the titles. Dawn reiterated her prediction of their victory, affirming that they remained champions.
Alba Fyre: ”It doesn’t matter what way that we won. All that matters is we walked away with these shiny titles.
Isla Dawn: I said we’d end up ‘and still,’ and look what happened.”
Blair Davenport also addressed her involvement, explaining that she, Dawn, and Fyre had a long-standing history together. She mentioned overhearing Cargill, Belair, and Naomi talking about them backstage. Davenport criticized them for their behavior and stressed that the longstanding history between her, Dawn, and Fyre from their time in NXT UK and Japan holds more value than any current friendships.
”Why? You want to know why? Well, let me tell you why. I caught Jade, Bianca, Naomi all running their mouths about us backstage, thinking they could do that to us and not have any repercussions. They think they might be little good buddies or whatever they are.
Bunch of bullies, and the one thing that we have and they don’t is history, all the way back to NXT UK, all the way back to Japan, all over the UK wrestling scene. We’ve known each other for a very long time, and history means more than whatever fake friendship they have right now.”
We will have to wait and see whether Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn will remain the champions for a long time now that Blair Davenport has aligned herself with the tag team, as that seems to be the most likely direction right now.
