AEW star Buddy Matthews, a long-time member of the House of Black, took some time off after the June 15th edition of AEW Collision. He has now made his return, appearing during the latest AEW Collision tapings.
In a trios match on the June 15th edition AEW Collision, Buddy Matthews teamed up with Malakai Black and Brody King to face Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, and Juice Robinson. During the match, Matthews appeared to injure his knee while performing a Meteora on Robinson, leading him to clutch his knee and tag in Brody King.
After a commercial break, officials escorted Matthews backstage, allowing Black and King to continue the match. Despite Matthews’ absence, Black and King secured the victory with assistance from PAC. Fans were initially concerned about the seriousness of Matthews’ injury, but it was later confirmed to be part of the storyline.
During the latest set of tapings for the August 3rd edition of AEW Collision, Christian Cage awarded Nick Wayne with a trios title, choosing to gift it to Wayne’s mother instead of Killswitch. The presentation was interrupted by The House of Black (Buddy Matthews, Malakai Black, and Brody King), with Christian offering Malakai some paternal advice. The Bang Bang Gang (Austin Gunn, Colten Gunn, and Juice Robinson) also made an appearance, leaving Nick Wayne vulnerable to an attack.
This marked Buddy Matthews’ first appearance since the aforementioned June 15th episode of AEW Collision. Now that he is back in the fold, we will have to wait and see how Matthews will fare in his war against The Patriarchy as we approach AEW All In on August 25th.
