Logan Paul was an unlikely WWE Superstar from the start, but the YouTuber turned boxer quickly convinced the WWE Universe that he belonged in the squared circle. The entertainer is currently the United States Champion and is heading into SummerSlam with a significant match ahead of him. Before that, he had a homecoming to address during the August 2 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Logan Paul arrived at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in an SUV wrapped with the Prime logo. Despite his homecoming, he maintained his heel persona for the WWE fans. The second hour of SmackDown began with Nick Aldis in the ring with some “dignitaries” from Cleveland, introducing The Maverick.
The Cleveland crowd greeted Paul with boos, and the broadcast had to black out the screen a few times due to vulgarities directed at him. Paul took the microphone and declared he was “home,” which only intensified the crowd’s boos.
Proclaiming that he “inspires” Cleveland, Paul stated, “I am Cleveland.” The crowd strongly disliked this, and he further antagonized them by calling LA Knight a “tryout who never made it” and claiming Knight wouldn’t win the US Title at SummerSlam.
Paul referred to the “dignitaries” in the ring, and Nick Aldis noted he couldn’t find them through a Google search, but Paul interrupted him. Paul then revealed a massive banner of himself, featuring the word “YEAH,” which signaled LA Knight to make his entrance. Knight told Paul to “get serious,” as they were just 24 hours from Paul losing the US Title. The Cleveland crowd supported this idea enthusiastically.
Then LA Knight promised that he would get Logan Paul a new banner, so he went backstage. Pretty Deadly tried to plug their upcoming musical, but Knight didn’t want anything of that. That is when LA Knight found Paul’s Prime truck, and he drove off. “That’s a crime!” Logan Paul cried out as he ran backstage, but it was too late.
Logan Paul is juggling many responsibilities, including his Impaulsive podcast and running the Prime empire. He’s also involved in a lawsuit against Coffeezilla over a series about Cryptozoo. Whether Paul retains the US Title in his home city remains to be seen, but the event will be memorable, even if he loses the championship to LA Knight in Cleveland.
