Daniel Garcia has been a part of AEW for a few years and is considered a key future talent for the company. However, with his contract set to expire this year, it seems Garcia had shown interest in potentially joining WWE.

At the end of the July 3 edition of AEW Dynamite’s special event, Beach Break, MJF made a surprising return that left fans in shock. He showed up at ringside to support Daniel Garcia during his AEW International Championship match against Will Ospreay. The match was intense, with both Garcia and Ospreay showcasing their skills.

Even though Garcia fought hard, Ospreay retained his title. After the match, Ospreay showed respect for Garcia. But things took a dramatic turn when MJF entered the ring. Instead of congratulating Garcia, MJF brutally attacked him, leaving him bloodied. He also assaulted officials who tried to stop him before quickly escaping through the crowd. The show ended with Garcia being taken away on a stretcher.

We have also reported that Daniel Garcia’s AEW contract is set to expire in October this year and the reason behind Daniel Garcia being written off television, which was done in case Garcia doesn’t re-sign with AEW.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the prevailing expectation is that Daniel Garcia will sign a new contract with AEW and engage in a feud with MJF upon his return. The angle for this feud was filmed with this outcome anticipated.

“The general belief remains that Daniel Garcia will sign a new deal and feud with MJF upon his return. The angle itself was shot with that expected, but his contract was running out and he did have interest in going to WWE (although he’d likely have had to start in NXT).”

Although Garcia’s contract was nearing expiration and he had shown interest in WWE—where he might have started in NXT—AEW has always been seen as his likely destination. This is partly because he could secure a more lucrative deal with AEW, though there was also genuine interest from WWE.

Should Daniel Garcia sign a new contract, it’s expected he will come back and feud with MJF as noted above. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what Daniel Garcia will do in the end.
