Chris Jericho is truly a veteran in the pro wrestling industry, whose career has spanned more than 30 years and he truly loves AEW no matter what. With that said, he is alleged to have blocked a WCW star from being hired in AEW.

All Elite Wrestling has made significant strides since its inception in 2019, marking its five-year milestone with the 2024 edition of Double or Nothing and recently celebrating the 250th episode of Dynamite, something that Chris Jericho bragged about.

While speaking on a recent episode of the Keepin’ It 100 OFFICIAL podcast, Konnan revealed some early plans that were discussed for his involvement with AEW. He mentioned that at the outset, he was offered roles to appear alongside LAX and later with The Lucha Bros. However, these plans did not materialize. Instead, Santana and Ortiz joined Chris Jericho’s Inner Circle, and Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix were paired with Alex Abrahantes as their manager.

Konnan noted that although he was initially offered a role with LAX and later with Pentagon and Phoenix, Jericho’s preference led to different outcomes. He also commented on Abrahantes’ role, describing him as “the hype spaz boy” and comparing him to a Latino version of Tony Khan.

“As a matter of fact when AEW first started, I was offered a job – either come out with LAX, which is what should have happened, right.. but Jericho wanted them. And then there was talk about me coming out with Pentagon and Phoenix, which, that should’ve been very organic. But you saw who ended up managing them, you know, the hype spaz boy himself with the Mickey Mouse gloves, and he looks like the Latino Tony Khan, Alex Abrahantes.”

In addition to that, Konnan recalled asking Jericho about the possibility of writing for AEW’s Mexican talent, only to be informed that the company did not have writers at that time.

“So I had asked Jericho after all that… let me know if you need anybody to write for the Mexican talent. Right? He goes, ‘There’s no writers here.’ And I was like, ‘Alright,’ and that was the end of that conversation.”

Chris Jericho was also accused of deliberately trying to sabotage a match on AEW Dynamite last month. Regardless, it is unlikely Jericho will respond to what Konnan had to say and fans will ultimately accept that fact.
