The world of professional wrestling is an ever-changing landscape and the business is has become more mainstream than ever before. That’s why it’s no surprise even singer Chappell Roan was invited to an AEW show after she wore a Lucha Libre outfit at Lollapalooza.
During her set on August 2 at Chicago’s Grand Park, Chappell Roan performed on the T-Mobile stage at 5 p.m. to a packed crowd. She dazzled in colorful spandex and a neon-blue mask, and her band’s drumset was creatively surrounded by a mock-up of a wrestling ring.
The show was a high-energy spectacle, featuring stage pyrotechnics and playful interactions between Chappell Roan and her audience. At one point, she effortlessly performed the splits mid-song without missing a beat. Roan also premiered an unreleased track titled “Subway,” performed her hit single “Good Luck, Babe!,” and revisited a song from her earlier album, “Love Me Anyway.”
Fans on social media quickly noticed the striking similarity between Roan’s attire and that of lucha libre wrestlers, drawing attention from the wrestling community, including those in AEW. Willow Nightingale, alerted by fans about the resemblance, took to Twitter and extended an open invitation to Roan, welcoming her to attend an AEW show.
”Hi @ChappellRoan ! If you ever want to come to a wrestling show, you’re always welcome at @AEW 💖”
AEW has already had quite a few celebrities attend their shows in the past and all of them had a great time. Therefore, we will have to wait and see whether Chappell Roan will end up making her way to an AEW show somewhere down the line.
