The dynamics in the world of professional wrestling change occasionally. Wrestlers are often known to jump ship and go to other promotions for various reasons, and WWE has also witnessed this over the years.
However, those same superstars have also returned to the promotion after spending years in other companies to honour their craft and gain more popularity and credibility than they failed to gain in WWE or even those who took a hiatus from wrestling.
WWE EVP of Talent Relations & Head of Communications Chris Legentil revealed on the Sports Media Podcast that the company is very open to discussing talent returning to its landscape. He acknowledged the changing dynamics both on and off-screen and stated that WWE would always consider returns when they made sense.
“If somebody wants to come back, it’s always a conversation we’re happy to have, life is very long, and things change, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera over time. We’re definitely open to have conversations when it makes sense.”
A prime example that was witnessed last year was the return of CM Punk at the WWE Survivor Series 2023 event. The Best in the World left the company in 2014, citing health reasons and creative frustrations with the management.
Moreover, CM Punk himself stated that had Vince McMahon still been in charge of the company, he would not have considered returning, but being convinced that a new regime had taken over with a better approach towards working according to him, Punk eventually came back.
With Chris Legentil revealing that WWE is open to discussing major returns, we will have to wait and see which superstars make their way back to the global juggernaut in the future.
