AEW hosts their yearly Forbidden Door event, which brings together talent from various pro wrestling companies. Meanwhile, WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling have started their own partnership, prompting some fans to speculate about a potential collaboration between WWE and AEW. However, this appears unlikely.
Chris Legentil, WWE executive vice president of talent relations and head of communications, commented on the possibility of working with AEW. Despite being viewed as competitors, fans have often fantasized about a WWE and AEW collaboration, given both companies’ openness to working with other promotions.
During an appearance on the Sports Media podcast with Richard Deitsch, Legentil was asked about WWE’s stance on a combined card with AEW. He stated that there is no interest in combining any WWE show with Tony Khan’s operation.
“No interest. I just want to make clear. There is definitely a variety of excellent talent that don’t currently reside in WWE. There is no shot there that is being fired. It’s just to say, the answer to your question is no conversation has been had in relation to that.”
WWE has a lot of momentum as they continue breaking records following Endeavor’s merger of the company with the UFC. They are maintaining this momentum as they head into SummerSlam on August 3, and we will have full coverage here at Ringside News.
The future remains uncertain. Shane McMahon and Tony Khan have discussed the possibility of working together, but any potential deal between Shane and AEW will not involve WWE.
