Since his absence from WWE after WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon has maintained a low profile in the wrestling industry. Rumors suggested McMahon might work in AEW and that gained steam after he met up with Tony Khan recently. In light of his recent meeting, Shane McMahon has now issued a statement.

Mercedes Mone also confirmed that she had met up with Shane McMahon while boarding their respective flights, but didn’t disclose what they talked about. Tony Khan also made it clear that Shane McMahon is more than welcome in AEW, adding to the rumors.

AEW CEO Tony Khan held a private meeting with Shane McMahon on Monday, July 29, 2024, at a private office in Arlington airport. This meeting has led to speculation about potential collaborations between Khan and McMahon. The discussion focused on “possibilities moving forward,” marking their first face-to-face encounter despite Khan’s previous interest in connecting with McMahon.

While speaking on Busted Open After Dark, Bully Ray shared a statement from Shane McMahon. Shane mentioned that he and Tony Khan connected through a mutual friend and had a productive discussion, focusing on their mutual passion for wrestling and the dynamics of working with family. Shane congratulated Tony on AEW’s five-year anniversary and expressed excitement about the future evolution of the company. Bully Ray also noted that Shane prefers to keep details private and manage information carefully.

“Tony and I were connected through a mutual friend and we had a great meeting. We talked about many things, but mostly about our shared love for the business and the rewards and challenges of working with family. I congratulated him on the five year anniversary of AEW and look forward to how he evolves the business moving forward.”
