Backstage Reaction to Daniel Garcia’s Looming AEW Contract Expiry

Daniel Garcia has been part of AEW for a few years now and is seen as the future of the company. With that said, his contract with the company will expire this year and now the backstage reaction to his contract expiring has been revealed.

At the end of the July 3 edition of AEW Dynamite’s special event, Beach Break, MJF made a shocking return that left fans stunned. He appeared at ringside to support Daniel Garcia during his AEW International Championship match against Will Ospreay. The match was a hard-fought battle, showcasing the talents of both Garcia and Ospreay.

Despite Garcia’s valiant effort, Ospreay retained his championship. Post-match, Ospreay showed sportsmanship by respecting Garcia. However, the scene took a dramatic turn when MJF entered the ring. Instead of offering congratulations, MJF launched a brutal attack on Garcia, leaving him bloodied. He even assaulted officials who tried to intervene before making a hasty exit through the crowd. The show concluded with Garcia being taken away on a stretcher, while MJF disappeared into the audience.

We have also reported that Daniel Garcia’s AEW contract is set to expire in October this year. That is why many fans are curious about Daniel Garcia’s status with the company and if he will re-sign.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez stated that while Garcia has not yet signed a new contract, those within AEW believe he is likely to re-sign with the company. Alvarez mentioned that although nothing is official, the general belief in AEW is that Garcia will stay. Dave Meltzer also confirmed that his sources have shared similar expectations.

“Nothing is official but people there do believe that Garcia is most likely re-signing.”

We have also reported the reason behind Daniel Garcia being written off television, which was done in case Garcia doesn’t re-sign with AEW. Should he sign a new contract, it’s expected he will come back and feud with MJF. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what Daniel Garcia will do in the end.
