Some WWE Superstars will spend years in the company, never really finding their feet, and sometimes they can go through a number of gimmicks. Cedric Alexander surprised fans when he showed up in NXT, and this week he racked up a win over Brooks Jensen. That win was a much bigger deal than most fans realize.

This week, on the July 30 episode of WWE NXT, Cedric Alexander broke a lengthy losing streak by defeating Brooks Jensen. According to CageMatch.net, this victory marked his first television win since February 2023, when he and Shelton Benjamin beat Alpha Academy. It was also his first televised singles win since May 2021, when he defeated Benjamin in just 28 seconds. At this point, excluding Main Event and house shows, Alexander currently holds a 7-10 record in 2024.

Cedric Alexander’s career in WWE has seen its fair share of highs and lows. Unlike many, Alexander bypassed NXT, starting with the Cruiserweight Classic before moving to the 205 Live brand and eventually to Raw. In late 2019, Paul Heyman saw great potential in Alexander as the Wise Man was in charge of RAW as executive director, resulting in a brief push that featured a notable feud with AJ Styles for the United States Title. Sadly, Vince McMahon fired Heyman from that position in 2020.

Alexander’s momentum slowed until he joined Bobby Lashley, MVP, and Shelton Benjamin in 2020 as part of The Hurt Business. The popular faction earned him a Tag Team Championship, though it disbanded sooner than fans and wrestlers had hoped.

We will have to see what is next for Cedric Alexander in NXT. The company has seen several Superstars find new life in their careers as part of the black and gold brand. However, others have also seen their run in NXT as the final time they will grace WWE television before their eventual release.
