WWE is always looking toward the future, which sometimes involves shuffling people around. You never know who will fit best in a different role, and now a former contestant from Tough Enough has joined the company’s creative team.
Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has reported that Eric Watts has joined the WWE writing team. He will be working full-time on the Smackdown side of things. Not to be confused with Erik Watts, the son of Bill Watts, this Eric Watts has competed as a pro wrestler for over a decade.
Eric Watts may be familiar to some fans from his participation in the 2011 edition of Tough Enough, which also featured Cameron, Marty The Moth, Matt Cross, Ivelisse, and others. Watts was the seventh contestant eliminated from the program. Although he never went on to wrestle for WWE, he had a lengthy career and did extra work for them numerous times.
Going simply by “Watts,” he made several appearances for major companies, including teaming with Chris Bey at TNA’s Unbreakable in 2019. He also appeared on AEW Dark, taking on Jurassic Express in 2020. Now, he is back with WWE, but he won’t be taking bumps in the ring.
We will have to see what Eric Watts adds to the WWE creative team. There is a lot going on backstage in the company, and the creative team members are often unsung heroes. If anything, he may bring some new ideas to the already incredibly talented crew working behind the scenes.
