Val Venis has been outspoken about his right-wing views, including escalating criticism of pronouns and anti-trans posts. Recently, a fan attempted to trademark Venis’ name, which had been abandoned. Amidst this trademark dispute, there were significant changes to Venis’ Wikipedia page.
The trademark issue began when a Twitter user named HaangEmHigh noticed that the trademark for “Val Venis” had been abandoned and registered it. HaangEmHigh then launched a website called ‘ValVenis.com’ that promotes LGBTQ rights, especially trans rights, and features transgender pride colors. This appears to be part of a strategy to retain the trademark and use the name for advocacy.
In addition, HaangEmHigh is collaborating with other Twitter users to sell custom stickers in transgender colors under the “Val Venis” name, supporting trans rights and LGBTQ causes—stances that Val Venis himself opposes.
To help secure the trademark, HaangEmHigh has set up a GoFundMe campaign to use the ‘Val Venis’ name for positive purposes. Currently, the campaign has already exceeded the initial goal of €875, as it is sitting at €1,106 at the time of writing.
Interestingly enough, there were some amusing changes made to Val Venis’ Wikipedia page. Under the ‘Ring Names’ section, one addition saw him being called a ‘Transphone.’ In addition to that, another change that was previously made to his page was an account of Val Venis losing the naming rights to ‘Val Venis’ to HaangEmHiigh.
”In 2024, Morley lost the naming rights of the `Val Venis’ persona to X user HaangEmHiigh. This stemmed from the users resentment of Morley’s homophobic and transphobic comments on X and other social media.”
However, it is to be noted that the changes made were all reverted back. Nonetheless, the initial changes were a sign that quite a few fans were fed up with Val Venis’ remarks and wanted the Twitter user to win the ‘Val Venis’ trademark dispute in the end.
