CM Punk’s return to the WWE Universe last year was a huge deal for millions of fans. Now that The Best of the World is back in the fold, he is giving out his picks of who he considers to be the actual GOATs in the pro wrestling business.
CM Punk is making media rounds to promote his highly-anticipated match against Drew McIntyre, with Seth “Freakin'” Rollins serving as the special guest referee. There are a lot of questions left to be answered about how that will turn out, especially since the Monday Night Messiah already declared there is only one rule.
During an appearance on ESPN’s First Take this week, CM Punk was asked to identify who he believes are the top five professional wrestlers of all time. Initially, Punk included Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat on his list, but he later decided to replace Steamboat with Roddy Piper. The rest of his list featured Harley Race, Terry Funk, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, and Eddie Guerrero.
In addition to discussing his list of top wrestlers, Punk shared his thoughts on the lineup for this weekend’s SummerSlam event at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. He is excited about the event, suggesting that this year’s SummerSlam card could rival the quality of a WrestleMania lineup. That being said, the Second City Saint has already expressed his anxiousness about his first televised singles match in WWE in almost a decade.
“This card, to me honestly, possibly better than a WrestleMania. Maybe, maybe not the best, but I haven’t had my coffee yet this morning.”
