AEW President Tony Khan recently met privately with Shane McMahon, fueling rumours of potential collaborations. The meeting occurred on July 29, 2024, at a private Arlington airport office with reports stating that Khan and McMahon were to discuss “possibilities moving forward.”
Tony Khan has shown interest in working with Shane McMahon, and discussions about McMahon’s potential involvement in AEW have been ongoing for several weeks. However, specifics of the meeting remain undisclosed to AEW insiders, but the meeting did garner an internal reaction from WWE.
RAW superstar CM Punk, when asked about the photo of the meeting on the SI Media Podcast, simply responded, “Pass.” When asked if he’d be surprised to see Shane in AEW, Punk stated that he would not be.
“No. I don’t think so.”
Shane McMahon has been absent from WWE since WrestleMania 39 in April 2023 due to a quad injury. Reports in June 2024 confirmed that McMahon is not under any WWE contract, and the recent meeting with Tony Khan could possibly hint at a move to AEW in the near future.
