Val Venis shifted his focus from the ring to social media, where he frequently shares his views. This shift has led to several controversies, including his criticism of All Elite Wrestling’s decision to crown Nyla Rose, a transgender wrestler, as their women’s champion, which drew backlash from the wrestling community.

Venis faced further backlash for sharing an edited image involving Cody Rhodes and a transgender flag, suggesting a trans fan needed “the power of Jesus.” This led someone to redirect Venis’ domain ValVenis.com to the National Center for Transgender Equality’s website. Additionally, Venis might lose his rights to his old name, as a Twitter user registered a trademark for it after noticing the Val Venis trademark had been abandoned.

Val Venis then launched into a furious tirade, not only at the fact that his namesake’s URL was being diverted to a pro-trans website, but also over semantics associated with the story about his name’s copyright. A fan launched a GoFundMe in order to buy the rights of the trademark. Then he decided to take a different strategy when the replies seemingly weren’t going in his favor.

The Big Valbowski has now privated his Twitter account. Now only his previous followers can see his tweets, and anyone who was not already following him will only see a locked account. He is not off Twitter, but he is limiting those who can get on his timeline and see what he posted.
