WWE presented another episode of NXT this week, but due to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, it aired on Syfy instead of the usual USA Network. This change didn’t stop the action, as Roxanne Perez defended her title during the special show.

Few NXT Superstars have captured the WWE Universe’s attention like Thea Hail. She commands attention regardless of her role. During this week’s episode, the Chase U member had a big opportunity as she faced The Prodigy for the gold.

This match closed out the Great American Bash week one special. The fans were divided, chanting “Let’s Go Thea/Let’s Go Roxy” as the two wrestlers traded holds in the ring. The Chase U faction supported Thea Hail in her corner.

Roxanne Perez called Thea Hail “just a little girl,” which motivated Thea. She rallied, hitting a neckbreaker and several other moves. Despite shaking the ropes like the Ultimate Warrior, she missed her lionsault as Perez moved out of the way.

Thea hit a dive to the outside, followed by a cross body block from the top rope and another move for a near fall. Perez kicked out, and the match continued. Hail avoided a Pop Rocks and locked in a kimura lock. Perez struggled to find the ropes and reversed it into a crossface lock. Hail got up with Roxanne on her shoulders to escape and hit her springboard move for a two count.

With the referee distracted, Perez poked Thea in the face and took control for a moment. Hail avoided an attack and locked in another kimura. The two continued trading holds in the ring.

In the end, Perez nailed a Pop Rocks and got the clean win. She celebrated her victory as NXT Women’s Champion with a smile.

Roxanne Perez has been strong as champion during her second reign, never officially losing the title during her first run. At Stand & Deliver, she defeated Valkyria to win the NXT Women’s title, making her the youngest two-time NXT Women’s Champion and the third to have multiple reigns, alongside Charlotte Flair and Shayna Baszler.

At Spring Breakin’ Week One, Perez retained her title by defeating Valkyria and Tatum Paxley in a triple threat match. On the May 28 episode of NXT, TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace made a surprise appearance, challenging Perez for her title at Battleground, where Perez retained the title. She then defended her title against Vice at Heatwave. We’ll see what she gets into next.
