Goldberg is certainly a legend in the pro wrestling business, especially making a name for himself during WCW. His status as a free agent following the expiration of his WWE contract has obviously given rise to lots of discussions about a possible retirement match. With that said, Goldberg has now changed his stance on Vince McMahon not offering him a retirement match.

The former WWE Universal Champion last competed in 2022, facing off against Roman Reigns at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event, where he suffered a defeat. During this period, his son Gage also became involved in some of his storylines. Despite the loss, he emphatically stated that a wrestler does not retire until they leave the world.

The WWE Hall of Famer would then accuse Vince McMahon of making false promises about a retirement match in WWE. With that said, he seems to have changed his tune a bit now.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Goldberg remarked that he doesn’t believe someone is truly retired until they pass away. He acknowledged that he was somewhat forced into retirement but doesn’t consider himself retired from working, wrestling, or anything else.

“At some point in your life, I don’t think you’re retired until you’re dead. But, uh, I mean, I don’t know. I was kind of forced into retirement a little bit. I don’t like to think that I’m retired in any respect, whether it’s from working or wrestling or anything else.”

In response to Chris Van Vliet’s question about a potential rematch with Roman Reigns and whether it was still possible, Goldberg explained that if the match had still been an option, it would have already happened. He reflected on his wrestling career, noting that he had one of the best careers ever and appreciates that fact.

Goldberg indicated that he understands the nature of the business and doesn’t see the need to be upset about Vince McMahon not keeping their word. He suggested that if he truly wanted to have that match, he could arrange it himself in various locations, including India, Israel, Japan, or even in the States. He also mentioned that he has focused intensely on his son over the past six years.

“Well, no, not from Vince. If that match was still on the table, it would have been done, I think I would have thought. But, uh, hey man, I was thinking about it this morning in the shower, right? And, uh, I mean, I had one of the best wrestling careers ever and don’t think for one second that I don’t understand that and don’t appreciate it. And so to sit here and cry over a person not keeping his word in a business that’s as cutthroat as humanly possible, and he gets cast out—what do I think’s gonna happen, right? So, come on, man. I mean, I’m a big boy. It is what it is. If I really wanted that to happen, I could go do it myself. I could go to India and do it, I could go to Israel and do it, I could go to Japan and do it, I could do it here in the States. The fact is, though, the past six years I poured every ounce of my soul into my son. I’m going to get stem cells a bio accelerator you know down in Colombia.”

Goldberg also admitted he has no idea who his retirement opponent should be. Regardless, we will have to wait and see what will become of Goldberg in the end, as fans wonder whether he will ever have a retirement match.
