CM Punk is set to return to in-ring action after being on the sidelines with a triceps injury suffered at the 2024 Royal Rumble event by his heated rival, Drew McIntyre, at WWE’s upcoming PLE, SummerSlam.
However, the intriguing part of the highly anticipated bout was RAW General Manager naming Seth “Freakin” Rollins as the Special Guest Referee for the match. Moreover, Rollins lost the World Championship to Drew McIntyre earlier this year at WrestleMania 40, while the wrestling world has been very aware of the real-life heat between Punk and Rollins for years.
During a recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take, The Best in the World was asked if he was nervous about Rollins being the referee for his match against McIntyre. CM Punk stated that, according to him, Seth Rollins would not be a fair official, but he possibly did not have the capacity to be worried about it since he had a lot of other things to take care of, hinting at putting his full focus on Drew McIntyre.
“I don’t think he is going to be fair … I don’t know if I have the capacity to be nervous about it because I’m nervous about great other many things leading up to Saturday. I almost can’t worry about it.”
The match has been building up for nearly six months after multiple encounters, verbal back and forth and heated exchanges between Punk and McIntyre. With CM Punk proclaiming the end of their rivalry after SummerSlam, it would surely be one of the must-see matches at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
