CM Punk’s return to WWE at the Survivor Series last November in Chicago was a monumental moment for fans. Despite a triceps injury at the Royal Rumble, Punk has fully recovered and is set to face the man who injured him, Drew McIntyre, at SummerSlam.
The heated rivalry has been going on for months, with Punk costing McIntyre significant title opportunities, while Drew used his social media and every other occasion he got to berate The Best in the World constantly.
Discussing their upcoming match on ESPN’s First Take, CM Punk made it clear that he was done with Drew McIntyre after SummerSlam, claiming the end of the rivalry at the event and moving on to focus on bigger things in WWE.
“I’m done with Drew after Saturday, yeah, I can put him in my rearview mirror, I can focus on bigger and better things.”
As SummerSlam approaches, Seth Rollins has been announced as the special referee for Punk and McIntyre’s match. This adds another layer of intrigue, and Cleveland fans are eagerly anticipating this showdown.
So it would surely be one of the marquee matches on the card and, as CM Punk said, would be the culmination of their heated feud, which has been building for over six months.
