Val Venis made a notable impact in WWE with a career that included winning the World Tag Team Championship with Lance Storm, the WWF European Championship, and the WWF Intercontinental Championship twice. Although he had a successful run in pro wrestling, he has left those days behind him and now focuses on expressing his views on Twitter.
After retiring from wrestling, Val Venis became involved in several controversies. In February 2020, he criticized All Elite Wrestling’s decision to crown Nyla Rose, a transgender wrestler, as their women’s champion. Morley argued that only a “real woman” should hold a women’s championship. His comments drew backlash from the wrestling community, including responses from Cody and Dustin Rhodes.
In January 2022, Val Venis was temporarily suspended from Twitter for violating the platform’s child sexual exploitation policy after posting a photo he claimed showed Hunter Biden with Malia Obama. More recently, his tweets have often targeted the LGBTQ community.
In February 2024, Morley faced similar backlash for an edited image involving Cody Rhodes and a transgender flag. Morley suggested that a trans fan needed “the power of Jesus” instead of affirming a “mental disorder.” Mat Koon responded by redirecting Morley’s domain, valvenis.com, to the National Center for Transgender Equality’s website.
These controversies have created enemies for Val Venis. Additionally, Venis may lose his rights to use his old name. The Val Venis trademark abandoned, and a Twitter user noticed and registered a trademark for Venis’ name. Now, it’s up to WWE whether they want to oppose it. Suggestions include selling merchandise with Val Venis on it, like stickers, to maintain the trademark.
Val Venis has reacted to this new trademark filing. He’s not happy at all. He addressed the “demon possessed followers” that HaangEmHigh has, and he also made it clear that he wants to be left alone.
Ok. This @HaangEmHiigh threatened me, I prayed for him, he then sent his demon possessed followers to flood my TL with nothing but the most vitriolic hate straight from the depths of hell, then crys like a baby when I prayed for him again with “lEaVe Me AlOnE.” Done! BLOCKED AND MOVING ON!
Val Venis followed that up with another tweet saying, “WOW! Yall want to see real demon comments? I said a very real prayer for @HaangEmHiigh and his demon followers came out raging with demon hatred. And I mean nasty, vitriolic hatred from the deep depths of hell. The hatred is off the charts. Check out these comments…”
Despite these controversies, Morley has found success running a medical marijuana clinic, which provides him with a stable business post-wrestling. This transition shows his ability to succeed in new areas. He may not need pro wrestling at this point, so losing the Val Venis trademark might not affect him significantly.
