Professional wrestling often runs in families, with many longstanding dynasties in the industry. The Von Erichs are one such family and they ended up winning tag team gold recently. In light of their huge win, their contractual status has been revealed.
At AEW Battle of the Belts XI, Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs (Ross and Marshall Von Erich) captured the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles by defeating The Undisputed Kingdom, which featured Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roderick Strong.
Dustin Rhodes secured the victory by hitting Mike Bennett with the Final Cut for the pinfall. Despite Maria Kanellis’ attempt to distract the new champions, Katsuyori Shibata intervened, applying the Claw to Roderick Strong, while Kevin Von Erich used the Claw on Matt Taven. This win marks the first ROH Six-Man Tag Team Championship for Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs, adding a significant accomplishment to their careers.
While speaking on Fightful Select’s Backstage Report podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about The Von Erichs’ contractual status with ROH now that they came champions. Sapp noted that he hasn’t heard anything about them being signed and added that they don’t need to be signed to do the Texas residency.
“Not that I heard of yet but I will find out. I don’t think you need them signed to do that type of thing, the Texas residency.”
Dustin Rhodes also cut an emotional promo after his major title win. Regardless, it remains to be seen how The Von Erichs and Dustin Rhodes will remain booked as the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champions, as fans were definitely happy to see them win the titles.
