Chris Jericho defeated HOOK for the FTW Championship at AEW Dynasty and since then he has fully embraced ‘The Learning Tree’ gimmick which is more self-aware than initially thought. In fact, Jericho claims his gimmick actually draws for the company.

Chris Jericho’s current ‘Learning Tree” gimmick has been a point of contention among fans, but he believes that those who want to see him and his stablemates, Bryan Keith and Big Bill, take a break from television are in the minority.

While speaking on the Creative Imbalance podcast, Chris Jericho argues that the success of the gimmick is reflected in its ratings. Jericho stated that the segment consistently ranks among the top-rated on the show each week. Despite the vocal criticism and calls for him to be removed from the spotlight, he maintains that these critics represent only a small fraction of the audience.

According to Jericho, the in-venue reactions and overall viewership indicate that the storyline is engaging and successful. He highlighted that the ‘Learning Tree’ gimmick features a compelling character with significant potential, helping various wrestlers advance in their careers.

“Bottom line is, it delivers, it’s one of the top rated segments on the show every week. People are into it. As much as people want to cry from the hills that they want to behead Chris Jericho and kick me off planet Earth and send me off in space in a shuttle, that’s a very small amount of people. What are the people reacting to in the venue? What are they watching? We have a hit character with a lot of potential who’s helping a lot of different people move up the ladder, and that’s what it’s all about.”

Chris Jericho even declared that his ‘Learning Tree’ gimmick is his best character by far. Nonetheless, there are quite a few fans who are slowly warming up to Jericho’s gimmick, so perhaps there might be some truth to what he says.
