AEW has experienced significant developments in the last five years, including changes in talent signings, production values, and more. Even then, they are obviously not the global juggernaut that is WWE but it appears WWE has now been accused of AEW’s market ahead of All In this year.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan showed strong interest in hosting WrestleMania in the UK’s capital. This led to a ton of development in the past week as WWE is currently discussing having WrestleMania event take place in London. In fact, even Triple H revealed the reason why WWE is considering London as host for future WrestleMania.
While speaking on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, AEW’s Thunder Rosa commented on WWE’s recent discussions about potentially bringing WrestleMania to London.
Thunder Rosa found the timing of WWE’s announcement particularly notable, as it came just before AEW’s All In event, which will take place on August 25th. She noted that WWE’s move seemed strategically timed and reflected a broader business strategy to fortify the company’s position and accused WWE of trying to expand into markets that AEW is also targeting.
“I think it’s very interesting, the timing that this is happening. It’s so interesting…It’s game on. Game is on and they are doing everything business-wise to become a company that is bulletproof and now [they’re] targeting a market AEW is targeting…It’s capitalism 101.”
John Cena also believes London earned the chance to host WrestleMania and to add to that, Triple H and Sadiq Khan had a very productive meeting towards that goal. Nevertheless, WWE will continue to expand into various markets no matter what and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
