Tony Khan is known to tweet out his thanks to AEW fans for getting on board and tuning in every week. The AEW President had even more to say on Sunday, July 28, because Battle of the Belts went down last night, and that included title changes. Now the ROH 6-Man Championships have new owners.
In a high-energy contest at AEW Battle of the Belts XI, Dustin Rhodes and The Von Erichs, Ross and Marshall Von Erich, won the ROH Six-Man Tag Team Titles by defeating The Undisputed Kingdom, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, and Roderick Strong. There was a lot of celebration after this match.
Tony Khan wanted to make sure that the new champions knew he had their back the next day. He congratulated the new champions, while making sure to include all of their Twitter handles. Then he thanked fans for tuning in, which is customary for his post-show tweets.
“Congratulations to @MarshallVonEric, @RossVonErich, + @dustinrhodes, the new ROH World 6 Man Tag Team Champions!
Thank you all who watched @AEW last night on @TNTdrama!”
Those ROH 6-Man Championships have a rather interesting story, because they were recently unified with the AEW 6-Man Titles, but then they split them again after the Bang Bang Gang had to drop the belts due to Jay White’s injury. The Patriarchy, Christian Cage, Nick Wayne, and Killswitch, won the AEW Trios Titles on the July 20th episode of AEW Collision.
We will have to see what is next for ROH’s new 6-man champions. Giving the Von Erichs a title run is certainly a feel good moment, especially after the family received such a focus as part of Zac Efron’s film The Iron Claw. That film also included MJF in a role as Lance Von Erich, and he also received a producer credit for his advisor role. Keep checking back with us here at Ringside News for more.
