Ronda Rousey departed from WWE after her match against Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam last year and since then she has focused on avenues outside the realm of pro wrestling. This includes the fact that she will be relating her own graphic novel but now Ronda Rousey has claimed that Netflix made an offer for her biopic.

The Baddest Woman on The Planet revealed earlier this year that she is working on comic book, which turned out to be Expecting The Unexpected, something that Rousey is very excited about.

While speaking with TV Insider, Rousey shared that her interest in screenwriting led her to intern with WME executive Adam Novak. During this internship, her agent informed her that Paramount had bought the rights to her life story a while ago, with a screenplay written by Mark Bomback. Due to multiple changes in the production team, the project had stalled. Her agent suggested that her passion for screenwriting might be a sign that she should write her own biopic.

“It’s because of [“Expecting the Unexpected”] and my obsession with screenwriting I’ve been trying to educate myself,” explaining how her journey led to interning with WME executive Adam Novak. “While I was doing this internship, [my agent] talked to me about my life rights bought by Paramount a long time ago. Mark Bomback wrote the screenplay. There were so many regime changes that it was kind of lost in production limbo. [He] was like, ‘Your life rights expired. They own that script forever. But I think the reason you were obsessed with screenwriting is because you were meant to write your own biopic.'”

Rousey revealed that she began working on this biopic before becoming pregnant with her daughter. She managed to complete the first draft while juggling media commitments. The draft was submitted to Netflix, which responded positively and made an offer immediately. She is currently finishing up the second draft, but it’s still unclear if the project will move forward into production.

“For eight days straight after doing media, I would go and write and work on my screenplay and banged out the first draft. Everyone thought I had this ghostwriter because they thought it was so good. We turned it into Netflix. They loved it. They put in an offer right away. I’m just wrapping up my second draft right now.”

In the meantime, Ronda Rousey has also addressed potentially returning to WWE. Nevertheless, we’ll have to see if Netflix will end up giving the green light for her biopic, as fans might love to see it happen.
