Tony Khan is committed to maximizing the spotlight for his promotion, Ring of Honor. As the owner of ROH, Khan aims to elevate its visibility and integrate it more closely with AEW. He is considering rebranding ROH to align it with AEW, reflecting his desire to merge the two promotions.

Khan has talked about his dedication to ROH talent, saying it’s different from how WWE treated WCW talent in the past. Tony Khan is also working to keep ROH exciting and new.

Since Tony Khan acquired Ring of Honor in March 2022, the brand has operated separately from AEW, though there has been crossover of talent between the two promotions.

During the ROH Death Before Dishonor media scrum, Tony Khan talked about the potential for greater integration between AEW and ROH. He acknowledged that AEW is a leading force in pro wrestling and suggested that the ROH brand could benefit from a closer connection with AEW.

Khan proposed the idea of licensing or sublicensing ROH under the AEW umbrella, believing it could enhance the visibility and growth of both brands. He emphasized that this move would help showcase the existing connection between the promotions and be beneficial for everyone involved.

“I recognize that AEW is at the very top of pro wrestling. The ROH brand could frankly benefit from even more association. I don’t think it’s out of the question to say or sacrilegious to say. I think it would only help grow the ROH brand if I were to license it, sublicense, if it were AEW ROH. I don’t think that’s a crazy thing or sacrilegious or bad. I think it would be good for everybody. People would see more of the connectivity that exists between promotions and what we’re going for.”

Tony Khan was asked about the chance of ROH being broadcast on a Warner Brothers Discovery network. He responded that it’s entirely feasible for Ring of Honor to be featured on a WBD channel. Khan noted that ROH would likely have greater value if it were branded as AEW Ring of Honor. He acknowledged that integrating ROH more closely with AEW’s existing structure could enhance its presentation but assured that it wouldn’t disrupt the current setup.

“It’s not crazy at all to think Ring of Honor could be televised in the Warner Brothers Discovery family. Would Ring of Honor frankly have a lot more value as AEW Ring of Honor? Yeah, probably. I think I’ve come to that realization as far as the presentation. That might mean a more cohesive absorption of the promotion into the fabric of what we’re already doing, but not in a way that would affect things.”

We have also reported that ROH is set to receive more attention and care moving forward. Therefore, ROH possibly getting merged with AEW might just be the best thing for the brand moving forward, so it remains to be seen what will become of ROH in the end.
