Scott Steiner Asserts That AEW Can’t Throw Matches Together Without Creative Build

Scott Steiner is never one to hold his opinion back when it comes to the pro wrestling world. He has seen the trend that AEW has put forth as they book matches without much storyline build. If you ask him, that’s just not going to cut it.

AEW has offered fans a product centered around the in-ring action of professional wrestling, contrasting WWE’s approach, which focuses on storytelling. Everyone has their own preference about what they want to see out of a pro wrestling company

While speaking to Sportskeeda for a new interview, Scott Steiner was asked if he watches AEW. Big Papa Pump said that he does watch some of what Tony Khan is producing, but he doesn’t have a lot of time to invest in the product.

“I try to watch some stuff sometimes. I don’t have a whole lot of time.”

When asked to share his positive takes on the company, Steiner stated that it’s great that the wrestlers have more places to work. It seems that he’s not going out outright slam AEW like others have in the past, but that doesn’t mean he’s necessarily a fan of the product.

“It’s great for another place for the guys to work. Competition’s always good for the business. But there’s no doubt that WWE is hot right now. They got the fan interest. That’s what’s most important. The thing is, you just can’t have matches. Nobody gives a sh*t if they’re just matches with no storyline. You’re throwing two guys together…No, [it doesn’t work.]”

WWE is breaking records around every corner at this point, and their business is doing very well. That being said, AEW has noticeably seen a lull in their viewership, even though Eric Bischoff is of the mindset that they will attract over 1 million fans for Dynamite again some day.

We will keep a close eye on this story, and everything else in the pro wrestling world. AEW is going to keep doing their thing, even if it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.
