Rob Van Dam, known for being one of the most technically skilled pro wrestlers ever, has faced many top stars throughout his career, including Triple H. Despite their shared history in the ring, Van Dam has addressed a potential WWE return.
Triple H, now serving as WWE’s Chief Content Officer, is responsible for making significant decisions for the company. His current role represents the peak of a career built on years of dedication and hard work, starting as a WWE Superstar and gradually advancing through the corporate ranks.
Rob Van Dam enjoyed a notable career in ECW before joining WWE in 2001. During his six-year tenure with WWE, he achieved significant success, winning several championships including the WWE and ECW Titles. After his initial run with WWE ended in 2007, Van Dam made a brief return in 2013, only to leave the company again in 2014.
On his 1 Of A Kind With RVD podcast, Rob Van Dam talked about the possibility of returning to WWE under Paul “Triple H” Levesque’s leadership. He acknowledged that while he is highly regarded for his impact on the industry, he is not among the highest-paid wrestlers. Van Dam expressed doubt about whether the current decision-makers view him as a good investment.
RVD emphasized that decisions about a potential return would be based on business considerations rather than personal relationships. Van Dam noted that the decision-makers need to evaluate whether bringing him back would be beneficial for the company. He added that he does not assume anyone is interested in his return unless explicitly informed.
“I know that people hold me up there in the highest regards with the highest-paid wrestlers in the industry ever, even though I’m not one of those perspectively. But by the impact and by what I’ve done, I know that I am considered by most to be in a certain position in the industry. But to those in charge, I don’t think that I’ve had a lot of evidence to support that ‘that guy’ necessarily thinks that I would even be a good investment”
“So it’s not just about a personal relationship; it’s about a business relationship to. And whoever’s in charge, whether they regardless of personal feelings, whether they think that, ‘Going with this idea is a good investment, or a bad investment. Going with this idea, same. Whether this guy is good for the company.’ And so anyway, those are things that I think people don’t consider that I do. Like I have no reason to assume that anybody wants me unless they tell me they want me.”
For the record, RVD previously doubted he will ever return to WWE but that might just change eventually. We’ll have to wait and see whether the match will finally take place eventually.
