WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross is one of the most beloved names in the world of professional wrestling, but fans were shocked when it was revealed that he and Missy Hyatt used to be in a relationship. Hyatt has now revealed why she and Ross broke up.
While speaking in a recent interview on Rene Dupree’s Café de René podcast, Missy Hyatt shared more about her relationship with Jim Ross. Hyatt revealed that she had always had a crush on him since they first met in 1986, although he was involved with a girlfriend who later became his wife.
After his wife passed away in 2017, Hyatt reached out to offer her condolences. About two years later, he invited her to be a guest on his podcast, and they began talking regularly. This led to a romantic relationship, and they dated for a couple of years.
“I’ve known him forever since ’86, and I’ve always had a crush on him. And we worked together in WCW and stuff. But he had a girlfriend, and then he married her, Jan, who I loved, who was a wonderful lady. And then I called him after she passed away and, you know, gave him my condolences and stuff, and then about two years after that, he called me and said, ‘Hey, you want to do my podcast?’ And we started talking and talking and talking, and then every day we talk and talk and talk and talk and then he finally invited me to Oklahoma, and I went to Oklahoma, and that was it. We dated for a couple of years.”
Hyatt mentioned that it became difficult to continue the relationship because they had different goals. She wanted to get married again, while he did not share the same desire. She also expressed that her feelings were hurt when he chose a professional designer for his new condo instead of taking her suggestions into account. Hyatt’s desire to find a life partner and get married again was a significant factor in their relationship ending.
“But it was hard, you know. When he moved to Jacksonville and bought a condo on the beach, I was with him and helped him pick it out and stuff. And I was telling him, ‘Well, we gotta get rid of the popcorn ceiling. We gotta do this and gotta do that.’ You know, I thought I was gonna get the redo it. Well, he got the lady that did the stadium for the Jaguars or whatever to do it and paid her like 350/hour to, you know, be the designer, and that hurt my feelings. And he didn’t really want what I wanted because I wanna get married again. I don’t know why, but I do. I’m still young. I wanna find my life partner, who I found luckily by accident.”
Jim Ross’s wife, Jan Ross, tragically passed away on March 22, 2017, following a fatal accident. She was riding her Vespa scooter near their home in Norman, Oklahoma when a car driven by a 17-year-old struck her from behind. The collision threw her from the scooter, causing severe head injuries. Jan was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support but sadly died two days later.
Jim Ross has publicly shared the profound impact of her death, describing Jan as his rock and the love of his life. He has frequently expressed his grief and the significant void her passing has left in his life. Despite the tragedy, Jim Ross has continued his work in the wrestling industry, honoring Jan’s memory and drawing strength from their years together.
