WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff, renowned for his extensive knowledge of the pro wrestling industry, has often criticized AEW, including questioning Tony Khan’s abilities as a booker. Bischoff has also expressed skepticism about AEW Dynamite ever reaching 1 million viewers again.

If it wasn’t clear already, Eric Bischoff isn’t the biggest fan of AEW. He doesn’t even believe AEW is contributing anything to the world of professional wrestling, unlike what WWE does.

While speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff stated that he believes AEW Dynamite will never hit 1 million viewers again. When asked if he meant it, Bischoff stated that he is willing to bet a lot of money on AEW Dynamite never getting 1 million viewers.

Easy E noted that if there were a major shift in vision, strategy, or the creative team, there might be hope, but he acknowledged how unlikely that is. Setting that aside, he assessed the current situation, including the behind-the-camera. He expressed skepticism about the company ever reaching a million viewers again, suggesting they would be fortunate to hit 800,000.

With the arrival of fall and the football season, he predicted they would struggle to maintain even that number. Bischoff speculated that a change might trigger a new creative direction or ideas, but he dismissed the likelihood of success if it continues to rely on excessive blood and high spots.

“They may not ever succeed in ever getting a million viewers again. I got a lot of money on it. What could they possibly do now? If there’s a massive change in vision and strategy, and people involved in the creative process, then maybe—there’s always hope, but we both know how likely that is. So setting that aside, I’m looking at what they’ve got, where they’ve been, and the talent. I’m not talking about the talent in the ring, but the talent behind the camera.

There is absolutely no reason to believe they’ll ever hit a million again. They’re going to be lucky to hit 800,000 again. We’re going into fall and football and college football, and I don’t think they’ll have a hard time seeing 800,000. Like I said, maybe it’ll start a chain reaction of creative vision or ideas, or just throw some other [expletive] up against the wall—something that doesn’t involve [expletive] blood and 300 high spots.”

Eric Bischoff even stated that AEW is bleeding on the table when it comes to their storylines and accused Tony Khan of running AEW like a hobby. Nevertheless, only time will tell if Tony Khan will improve the product to a point that AEW Dynamite will get 1 million viewers again.
