CM Punk is set to make his return to in-ring competition after tearing his triceps at the 2024 Royal Rumble event. The Best in the World will collide against his arch-rival Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam in less than a week, with Seth Rollins acting as the Special Guest Referee.
In a recent interview with Ringside Collectibles at the San Diego Comic-Con, Punk was asked about the ring gear he would wear for his SummerSlam match. The interviewer questioned if Punk would debut a new ring gear or don the classic tights the fans have seen him wear during his AEW tenure.
The Second City Saint clarified that he could consider altering his in-ring gear in the future, but for SummerSlam, he would be donning his classic WWE gear, i.e. trunks, kick pads and boots.
“Maybe shorts, I also don’t know. I just think the classic CM Punk WWE is kick pads and trunks. Then again, I never say never, that could change in the future, but right now, I know at SummerSlam, I ll be in trunks.”
With CM Punk ready to make his return to the squared circle after over six months in his classic ring gear after undergoing intense in-ring training sessions and his feud against Drew McIntyre at an all-time high, we will have to wait and see if Punk manages to emerge victorious at SummerSlam. This could be a tall task for The Best in the World as his other heated rival, Seth Rollins, will call the shots for the match and could significantly influence the bout’s outcome.
