CM Punk’s return at the Survivor Series Premium Live Event definitely shocked the world of professional wrestling since no one expected it. In fact, Punk has now claimed he wouldn’t have left WWE in 2014 if today’s locker room was in place back then.
Vince McMahon was hit with serious allegations of sexual trafficking and officially resigned from WWE and TKO Holdings. Even TKO COO Mark Shapiro made it clear that Vince McMahon will never return to WWE.
CM Punk also admitted that Vince McMahon’s WWE departure paved the way for his return. While speaking during a recent interview with Ringside Collectibles, CM Punk praised the current creative environment, describing it as the most productive and open one he has ever been in. He pointed out that ideas are embraced and there’s a strong willingness to collaborate. Punk acknowledged that someone might come up with a brilliant idea that he might not initially see.
Punk expressed that he would support any good idea, but he feels hesitant to discuss it too much for fear of appearing to be just aligning with the company. Punk emphasized that if the environment had been this positive a decade ago, he likely wouldn’t have left. Overall, he finds the current creative atmosphere very exciting.
”Creatively speaking this is the most fruitful creative locker I have ever been in where ideas aren’t shot down and people are eager to share ideas. Somebody someday could have a brilliant idea that I have blinders on and couldn’t see it, but I would be receptive to ideas as long as they are good.”
“Yeah, absolutely. To a point where I almost don’t like talking about it because everyone thinks I’m just like toeing the company line, you know, but I know if this place is the way it was now, I wouldn’t have left 10 years ago. This is the most basic way I can explain it. Really exciting.”
CM Punk also doesn’t rule out starting his own faction in WWE. Nonetheless, the Second City Saint is here to stay in WWE and he has a huge match against Drew McIntyre set for SummerSlam, so we will have to wait and see how he will fare in the match.
