WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart’s contributions to the pro wrestling industry cannot be understated. He has helped shape the careers of generations of pro wrestlers after him but it appears he believes it would offend WWE if he gets involved in AEW’s Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Back in 2022, AEW teased the arrival of Bret Hart on Dynamite and Rampage. This further strengthened after Bret Hart was revealed to be managing FTR during an event. Bret Hart himself stated that he is simply happy being at home for the time being in response to the AEW rumors.

Bryan Danielson defeated Hangman Page to win the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament and will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW Title at All In, while Mariah May won the Women’s tournament to punch her ticket for All In against Toni Storm.

While speaking during a virtual signing with Signed By Superstars, Bret Hart was asked about whether AEW had ever contacted him regarding involvement in the Owen Hart Cup tournament.

Hart revealed that he had never been approached about it. He mentioned that while he appreciates Tony Khan and would consider helping out, he believes participating might cause issues with WWE, given his ties with them. Hart acknowledged that it could be worth asking, but he hasn’t received any such request so far.

”Nope (Bret responded when asked if Tony Khan has ever asked him to get involved with Owen Hart Cup). He’s never asked me… I’d have to think about it (if he did ask). I like Tony and I’d be happy to help out but I don’t know if I’d wanna go down — I think it might ruffle WWE’s feathers, and I get all my — everything tied in through them. But, then again, it can’t hurt to ask.”

AEW also turned down Bret Hart’s offer to be an agent. Regardless, it is unlikely the Hitman will be appearing on AEW television again to get involved in the Owen Hart Cup tournament and fans will have to accept.
