Tony Khan enjoys leading AEW and wants nothing more than the best for the company and even believes the company will have its best year in 2024. With that said, Booker T believes Tony Khan lets AEW talent do whatever they want and that simply doesn’t work.

AEW has several projects in the works, including All In at Wembley Stadium on August 25 and there is no doubt the company is trying to expand its business in various avenues apart from them.

While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T talked about AEW’s approach to long-term planning and its impact on the show’s booking. He expressed concerns about AEW’s lack of structured planning, suggesting that Tony Khan seems to allow talent significant freedom, which may not always result in a cohesive show. Booker T compared this approach to his own experiences with Reality of Wrestling, questioning whether he could trust his wrestlers to follow a structured plan without deviating by grabbing microphones, using chairs, or jumping off objects.

Booker T emphasized that Khan might benefit from seeking additional assistance to better manage and produce the show, stating that even he needs help to effectively run his own wrestling promotion. He concluded that Tony Khan could improve AEW’s product by getting more support and guidance.

“Who is going to AEW where they’ve had a long plan? From what I’ve been reading lately, it seems like Tony Khan is just letting these guys pretty much do whatever they want to do. He trusts the talent to go out and do the right thing. Come on. Do you think I could trust the guys in Reality of Wrestling to go out and do whatever they want to do on the show, and the show is gonna come out the way we really need it to be? You think I can trust everybody to go out and not want to pick the microphone up every chance they get up, pick up a chair and hit someone with it, or jump off something throughout the whole show? Do you think I could trust the guys to do that?

“And I really feel like Tony Khan needs to get a rein on that thing, and really stop producing a show from perspective to where — get some help. Get some help. That’s what he needs to do. Just like me, I need help. I can’t do it alone. I need help… I think that’s what Tony Khan needs more than anything.”

In fact, Eric Bischoff even constantly criticized AEW for having poorly crafted storylines and having matches with no meaning behind them whatsoever. Regardless, we’ll have to see whether Tony Khan will end up hiring someone to help him run AEW, as Booker T feels he needs to at this point in time.
