Kenny Omega’s incredible AEW run was disrupted by his battle with diverticulitis, a serious medical condition requiring urgent surgery. Following the procedure, an update on Omega’s recovery has emerged in regard to his status for the upcoming AEW All-In event.
On the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, Omega made his first appearance since December. He discussed his recovery from diverticulitis before The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, launched a surprise attack, leading to his temporary write-off from AEW television.
Post-surgery, The Cleaner is currently on the road to recovery. It was also reported that Kenny Omega needs to recover, get in shape, and then train for an in-ring comeback at the highest level.
However, according to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kenny Omega underwent surgery on May 16, with a typical recovery period of four months. This timeline suggests he might fall a few weeks short of making the AEW All-In spectacle at Wembley Stadium. Moreover, it was also stated that his health situation was far worse than most who have hernia surgery.
“Kenny Omega underwent surgery on 5/16 and the usual recovery period is four months, so in theory he’s going to fall a few weeks short of making All In at Wembley. His health situation was far worse than most who have hernia surgery.”
Kenny Omega has also hinted at a potential reinvention of his persona upon his return, indicating a desire for change in his gimmick. Fans eagerly await The Best Bout Machine’s triumphant return to AEW television, as he is sorely missed, but it seems that AEW All-In will not be on the cards for Omega this year.
