AEW President Tony Khan has a lot of passion for the world of professional wrestling, but many fans feel Khan simply drags down his company with his remarks. With that said, Tony Khan has now claimed that he gets more flak than anyone in pro wrestling.
Earlier this year, Tony Khan’s comments took controversial turn when he compared WWE to Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood executive notorious for his numerous scandals and criminal convictions related to sexual misconduct.
In fact, Khan has been criticized for a lot of reasons. While speaking during the ROH Death Before Dishonor media call, Tony Khan was asked about the pay-per-view card this time around.
Tony Khan stated that he is frustrated because he feels he gets more criticism than other wrestling promoters. He thinks that if other companies announced 5 or 6 matches for a pay-per-view, they wouldn’t get as much negative feedback as he does. Khan feels that anything he does in wrestling gets more criticism, and even small actions, like sneezing, seem to upset people.
“I’ll be honest, if other companies announce 6 matches for a PPV or even 5 matches for a PPV, I don’t think they’d get as much stick as I do. And I think pretty much anything I do in wrestling I get more stick than anybody else, per capita, for just about anything I do. If I sneeze people are mad at me.”
For the record, Jim Ross believes that AEW’s pay-per-views are far too long in general now. Regardless, Tony Khan will continue to speak his mind on various topics and likely get criticized for the same and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
