Injuries are commonplace in professional wrestling, leading to premature retirements for many athletes. One such individual is Corey Graves, who has been out of competition for long time due to injury. That is why it was no surprise he called out AEW for a dangerous spot during Dynamite this week but he deleted the tweet despite many fans supporting him.

The controversial spot took place during the Blood & Guts match between Team AEW and Team Elite on the July 24th edition of AEW Dynamite. In the match, Jack Perry, who was handcuffed to the cage, received a chair shot to the head from Darby Allin.

Fans had hoped the chair was “gimmicked” to lessen the impact, but many believe it was a real shot. Chair shots to the head are now considered dangerous due to their link to Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Graves, whose wrestling career ended early due to head injuries, talked about the importance of protecting each other in the ring and expressed concern over the potential damage from such spots.

Corey Grave’s tweet emphasized that the risks and memory issues from head trauma aren’t worth the damage. Graves made it clear he wasn’t trying to incite tribalism, but ultimately ended up deleting his tweet.

”This is not meant to sound judgmental, or incite “us vs. them” or question anybody’s passion, or talent or intentions.
This is just coming from a guy whose career ended from a few too many ACCIDENTAL headshots.
The ART of this business is protecting ourselves and each other.
Trust me…the gaps in memory are not worth it. I promise.”

Team AEW would ultimately prevail thanks to Darby Allin threatening to set Jack Perry on fire. Nonetheless, many fans agree with what Corey Graves had to say about unprotected chair shots during the match, as such spots have no place in the business anymore.
