CM Punk tore his triceps at the 2024 Royal Rumble event, ruling him out of action for months. However, he continued his heated rivalry with Drew McIntyre, the man who injured him, throughout the summer.
On the July 22nd edition of Monday Night RAW, The Best in the World made an appearance to announce that he had been cleared for in-ring action. Following a brief back and forth with Drew McIntyre, who later on came out, RAW GM Adam Pearce made their match official for SummerSlam, with Seth “Freakin” Rollins named as the Special Guest Referee for the match.
With The Second City Saint ready to face McIntyre after months of waiting, a video obtained by Ringside News from the Harley Race Foundation of Wrestling shows CM Punk training inside the ring with two other wrestlers. Punk can be seen taking bumps, executing moves and kicking out of pinfalls as part of his regime to prepare for SummerSlam.
Furthermore, there have been numerous speculations regarding his current WWE contract status, which was clarified with a report by PWInsider stating that CM Punk signed a three-year deal after his return to the company, alongside details for his future in the company.
As SummerSlam draws closer, we will have to wait and see if CM Punk manages to emerge victorious in his first match back inside the squared circle at The Biggest Part of the Summer.
