CM Punk’s return at 2023 WWE Survivor Series was a significant event, and he appears to be committed to WWE. However, recent rumors have sparked speculation about his contract status.
There have been ongoing rumors about CM Punk renegotiating his WWE contract. Dave Meltzer clarified that the situation had been blown out of proportion while there were discussions explaining the entire scenario.
In response to these rumors, CM Punk posted an Ice-T quote on his Instagram story, seemingly slamming the speculation of his contract status. In a new report by PWInsider, CM Punk is currently under contract with WWE until November 2026, excluding any injury-related extensions.
Despite this existing agreement, WWE and Punk are in talks for a new contract. WWE initiated these discussions, aiming to secure an even more substantial deal. The motivation behind this move, despite an already established contract, stems from the evolving landscape of the business, involving huge numbers, merchandise, and socials, as mentioned in their discussions.
“Numerous WWE sources, including one very high up internally, have confirmed to PWInsider.com that Punk and WWE signed a three-year deal the night he returned in Chicago at Survivor Series 2023. The deal would carry him through November 2026, not counting any time tacked on for when he was out rehabbing his Royal Rumble injury. Any claims that the initial deal is coming up or that they signed a short-term deal and knew they would be discussing a new deal at this point, is 100% incorrect.”
“We are told that WWE are the ones who approached Punk about working out a new deal. Multiple WWE sources confirmed they are seeking to lock in what was described as a “bigger” deal (two sources used that terminology) and stated it was something the company initiated, not Punk.”
It appears that he will remain with WWE for the foreseeable future, as he seems satisfied and is creatively engaged. The Best in the World is set to return to in-ring action at SummerSlam on August 3 in a match against Drew McIntyre, with Seth “Freakin'” Rollins as the special guest referee, promising to be a highly explosive showdown between the two heated rivals.
