Bryan Danielson is unquestionably one of the top professional wrestlers in the world, and his tenure in AEW has made the world see why he’s truly one of the best. He’s been in AEW since 2021 and he has now confirmed the exact date when his contract expires after Dynamite this week.
The American Dragon is currently on his last year as a full-time wrestler and has managed to compete at the very highest level, having Match of The Year classics with the likes of Will Ospreay, Kazuchika Okada, Zack Sabre Jr. and so many more stars.
It was a known fact that Danielson’s AEW contract was set to expire before AEW All In on August 25th, where he is scheduled to face Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship. However, the exact date for his contract expiry was not known until now.
In an extended interview clip posted on AEW’s YouTube channel following the July 24th episode of AEW Dynamite, Danielson confirmed that his contract is ending on August 1st, which coincides with his son’s fourth birthday.
“Yeah, yeah. That’s true. August 1st, actually. Next Thursday. My wrestling contract is up. Which also happens to be my son’s fourth birthday.”
When asked about his future, Danielson clarified that he is not using his contract status to negotiate for more money. He expressed that he and his wife, Brie, had discussed this being his final wrestling contract when he signed it. Although he is curious and excited about what comes next, he remains focused on his upcoming match and the events leading up to Wembley Stadium.
“So I’m not saying this. Tony talked about this in an interview, so I feel comfortable talking about it. I’m not MJF-ing this. I’m not trying to use my contract to be like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna get all the money. Somebody give me all the money.’ Yeah, my contract is up August 1st. When I signed this contract, me and Brie, we talked about how this would be the last wrestling contract I was gonna sign. So yeah, part of me is wondering what life is like after this. Part of me is excited about that. But right now, even though Wembley is after this, I still have to focus on that. That’s gotta be kind of my focus. So yeah, it’s a wild time.”
Tony Khan also addressed Bryan Danielson’s future with AEW after his retirement. Bryan Danielson has also revealed where he plans to have his final match. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see when how long Danielson will remain with AEW after All In this year.
